HD720p mini DV 808 key chain camera – Instructions, review and test video

The new HD version of the brilliant little 808 key chain camera, sometimes known as 808 version #11. Full details are on rcgroups dot com and loads of info on the key chain 808 standard definition is on Chuck Lohrs 808 web site. Google them, as YouTube won’t allow url links? It’s quite easy to remove date stamp on this model, e bay seller power gps will send you the files, but make sure you get a genuine HD Key chain cam. A list of a couple of good suppliers are on the rcgroups thread. Mine came from Power -GPS on e bay for just £25. 2 weeks delivery time from China. This video is a big raw file, 800 mb’s. I will upload a compressed one, once I figure out how to do it! My slow old pc has some trouble handling the files which are MOV.264 mpeg 4 avc format. Dual-core laptop is ok with them. See my review of the MD80 mini dv and some super videos made with the standard definition 808 and MD80. The Yacht Delvery is best!

Video using the AEE MINI DV (MD80) video camera

The video was taken with the AEE MD80 video camera mounted on the dash (clipped to the GPS mount). The video camera takes microSD memory cards. This video was taken using the card that came in the package. It is a somewhat slow card which resulted in around 20 FPS rather than the expected 30 FPS. I will test it using a Class 6 microSD later. Audio is very sensitive. Given the cameras extremely small size (2″ tall and 50 grams) it did an adequate job. Definitely not a video camera to use if you need alot of detail. Good for track events and other sports. Review: terracode.com www.terracode.com

Testing the MD80 Sports Cam Mini DVR – Mounted on RC Plane

MD80 Mini DVR camera mounted on a hobbyzone RC plane. Camera was mounted sideways so had to rotate the video (hence the bars left and right) but for just over £10 the quality isn’t too bad at all and not such a big deal if it gets damaged! Would advise anyone using this to get a class 6 SDHC microSD card as it will cope with the data rate better and get rid of any choppy video. This vid was taken with a class 4 SDHC microSD and although it is smooth there is one brief second where it skips.
