UPDATE: 4.9.10 — Please note- this is not me in this video, this is my twin! ———— FINALLY edited my Cribs-style video (featuring my twin) that I shot entirely using the Hague Mini-Motion Cam stabilizer and the Panasonic DMC-GH1. So here’s my update on using the Hague MMC. The Hague can get the job done, but as I said before, it really can be tough getting it properly balanced. This also goes for whenever setting the camera down with the Hague attached. When setting it down, it’s easy for the camera to slightly shift due to weight of the lens – so I would have to readjust it all over again which can be really frustrating – luckily for this vid, I only set it down once. When readjusting, I wish it had those notches to know your settings like the Merlin. Oh well… So, for this shoot, I used the 14-140mm kit lens, I also attached an external mic to the camera which made it slightly heavier than my earlier testings. So with 7 large rings and 1 small ring counterweights, I had to improvise (since I forgot to bring my other weights) and used an extra bolt and a keychain bottle opener. I know, I felt like McGyver. I also had a light tether attached to the camera which I made from one of those ID badge retractors. FYI, I did this because the handle can easily come out of the socket if it’s pushed too far in a direction. So one of the things that attracted me to the Hague MMC was it’s weight. I bought this Chinese Mini DV spy camera on eBay for , including shipping. It makes a great helmet camera for a motorcyclist. The sound quality is really good considering the price, especially for motorcycle helmet use. You can hear the Harley rumble, but it isn’t too loud, and you can hear my voice at speed. Even wind doesn’t cause much static in the audio. The video isn’t great, but it’s OK for what it is. If you’re thinking of doing some vlogging but don’t have a camera, this Chinese mini HD spy camera is a cheap way to get started. It records in AVI format, 720 x 480. A 22 minute video is 463 MB. It requires a micro SD memory card to work, and you don’t get a memory card with the camera. This mini DV spy camera came with a manual which says “Mini DV Manual.” There’s no brand name, so I don’t know who made it. The camera came with a bunch of different mounting devices, including an alligator clip, bolt on mount, magnetic mount, and rubber sport mount. It’s a great deal for 15 bucks and it’s a decent helmetcam for a motorcyclist. Motorcycle vlogger misteroldschool mentioned this camera in one of his videos, and I thought I’d check it out. I hope this test and review helps you make your mini camera buying decision.
